Checking In

"Well, thanks for telling your millions of readers." - Al Can't Hang

Tuesday morning I decided I was going to take a little bit of a hiatus from the blog, ostensibly to devote some energy to my (cough)"book"(cough), which I have been criminally negligent in writing. I've got some great ideas, I've got the story written in my head (and a few chapters in first draft), it's just about putting it down on (figurative) paper, which will take (literal) effort.

I got sidetracked though. Unfortunately for my "book" (enjoying the ironic quotation marks so far?), I couldn't take the time. Something got in the way. Sadly, I can't talk about it yet. I will, probably early next week once things clear up, but for now my book and the rest of the week's blogging took a back seat.

Don't worry about it though, it's really nothing negative. I'll shine a light on it later, deal?

You might have noticed too that I've made the change I alluded to in the wake of Vegas' trip, which is that I have pulled commenting from the website. It's a personal choice, not really born out of anything except a desire to keep feedback from my friends and readers a little more private. I really do want the dialogue with you guys, I just don't want it to be public. Always feel free to use the email link at the bottom of each post or catch me most evenings on YIM to talk.

Anyway, more later. I'm just checking in.

Too Hot To Think Of A Title

If I could have asked my 20 year old cousin for anything (realistic) for my birthday yesterday, it would have been to grab one of her hot 18 or 19 year old friends and have the friend sunbathe in front of me.

Check.

Oh, and if it's not too much trouble, have her repeatedly take off and put on her t-shirt over the course of an hour - gives me the illusion of a strip-tease.

Check.

Last thing too, if she could maybe untie her bikini top while she's lying there, giving me at least the hope a stiff gust of wind might send her top to the other side of the park, that'd be great too.

Again, check.

Thank god my cousin doesn't read me, I'm even skeeving myself out just a little bit here.

So thanks to all my friends who checked in to wish me a happy birthday yesterday. It was a good one ultimately, and not just due to an impossibly eighteen and tanned girl with the solid C cups stretching and preening, glistening with...

I need a cold shower.

Anyway, here's what I got for my birthday:

A Thoroughbred Racing Abstract from Bob
A subscription to Playboy from Mike
A coffeemaker from my dad and his family
A bottle of wine each from my cousin and my mom's boyfriend
This poster I had laying around framed by my mom
$80 to a framing store to get another print and a photo or two mounted up as well (also by mom).

Good stuff.

Thanks too to those of you that offered compliments on the story of my grandfather's funeral. It got back around to my mom actually, and while she said she liked it, she reminded me that my aunts and uncles on that side number six and not seven. Well damn. I should get an editor, I swear to god. I don't have the time to make the calls to check these little details out, so they go to press without the benefit of confirmation. I plead ignorance.

Actually, I just didn't take the time to do the mental math. I am not at all exaggerating when I say that Charlie's passing last week inspired me to tell you that story, and it came off the keyboard in well under an hour. So, basically, I just typed up what was bouncing around in my head at the moment without overthinking it. Or remembering exactly that I have five aunts/uncles on that side, and not six.

BG = Retard.

Oh, and thanks too to Iggy for the traffic this weekend too. I mean, I'm pretty high on his blogroll (eleventh listed out of umpteen jillion), and people do click through to me and all, but between the Humpy's story and the link to the grandfather post, I basically saw my traffic triple over normal weekend numbers. Thanks man.

Anyway, that's all I got for now. It's hot out here, and I've been air-conditioning deprived all weekend. At bare minimum though, the only burn I got this weekend was the sight of a bikini clad hottie scarred into my retinas.

Overall Blogger HotSpot Scores
(average finishing spot)

G-Vegas/UFP Crew: Marty, Otis, Lil Willie, CJ, G-Rob, BadBlood, Wes - 36.9
NYNY: Doc, Derek, Joaquin - 31.33
Minnesota: Drizz, Chad, Halverson - 34.0
Michigan: BG, Bob, THG, Royal - 36.25
Austin/Texas: April, ScurvyDog, DanM, TFG - 52.25
SoCal: Bill, Hank, Shane, Joe, Geek, FHWRDH, Mike - 40.14 (had it posted earlier at 48 - oops)

(by the way G-Vegas, no arguing that Marty's 53rd place finish is skewing your numbers. If you don't count him, you can't have CJ's 2nd place finish either, which drops true SC score to 42.5)
