Totally Theoretical Question

If Bob and I started to get serious about putting together investors to buy a race horse, would you want in?

Would it make a difference if there was the possibility of a year to eighteen months where periodically you'd have to pony up (ha ha) a few bucks to keep the horse's training regimen going?

We have no idea what something like this might cost, but we're beginning to be more realistically intrigued.

YouTube Post

Let's start with The Band in 1970, playing "King Harvest" in their studio in Woodstock, NY. The tail end of the video features a version of "Long Black Veil," live from approximately the same era. Even though Robbie Robertson is a douchebag, I'll give him props for his solo on "Harvest."

Staying on theme, now we know how many holes it takes to fill Royal Albert Hall. Breaks my heart that it's not Levon on drums, but whatareyougonnado? Play it fucking loud.

Huge find here, Booker Ervin and Eric Dolphy trading 4s and 2s at the end of "I'll Remember April" from Charles Mingus' famed concert at Antibes, France. Video quality sucks, but 1:38 of this iconic performance to me is better than nothing.

Let's finish off with three from the present era. Theodore Unit on "Pass the Mic," although Cappadonna's verse is cut to bring you the first verse from "Mama, Can You Hear Me?" I'd bet I have more money in my wallet today than this video cost to make.

If you haven't picked up the new Wilco album yet, please do so posthaste. "The Thanks I Get" is a bonus track, available via iTunes.

Lastly, how about some throwback indie rock from Portland, Oregon's M.Ward? Post-War is the best album you don't currently have in your collection. Trust me. Here's "Chinese Translation," from a performance on Letterman.
